A Kogi-based anti-corruption group, Kogi Grassroot Conscience, (KGC) has
raised an alarm that the Kogi State Commissioner for Local Government
and Chieftaincy Affairs, Barrister Ndamodu Ali, is corruptly enriching
himself with allocations meant for local governments in the state.
The group alleged that Ndamodu fleeced the local councils when Liaison
Officers held sway which hampered their performances in the respective
local governments. It will be recalled that the Liaison Officers had
serious financial challenges and were unable to meet expectations of
constituents and even failed to meet up with routine council
responsibilities.
“When the Liaison Officers were dissolved by His Excellency, Captain
Idris Wada, the DLGs were directed to take over the administration of
their respective local councils. Ndamodu Ali caged the DLGs and siphoned
over N300million from their allocationâ€, the group alleged.
With the election and swearing-in of Local Government Chairmen, the
group claimed that Ndamodu is still ‘toying’ with local government
allocations to the chagrin of the council executives.
“The present crop of Local Government helmsmen in Kogi State are made
up of seasoned professionals ranging from medical doctors to A-rated
businessmen. These men are keen to transform their respective local
councils but the dubious activities of Ndamodu Ali is hampering their
goalsâ€
The Commissioner is presently enmeshed in a scandal that can only be
rivalled by a Hollywood movie. Apart from the massive corruption being
perpetrated under his leadership of the ministry of Local Government, He
is equally running a prostitution ring that recruit young girls for
politicians.
In his bid to satisfy his unquenchable thirst for women, he recently got
married to a girl three days after he met her at a function. The
marriage later turned disastrous for Ndamodu as the Lady, by name
Maryam, stole a bag of Ghana-must-go containing millions of looted local
Government funds.
The commissioner consequently packed Maryam\'s property out of the
apartment he reserved for her at the commissioners quarters Lokoja.
Maryam reported Ndamodu at the Police Headquarters in Lokoja for assault
and he was subsequently detained for two days.
\"As a grassroot anti-corruption watchdog, we make bold to say that
Local governments in Kogi State do not get their complete allocation!
The commissioner for local government and chieftaincy is milking these
councils and must be stopped NOW!â€
“We will no longer accept \'paucity of funds\' as an excuse for non-performance from local governments in Kogi State.
