AHMADU GIADE: FROM MESS TO MESS-------PETITION

"AN OPEN LETTER BY CONCERNED OFFICERS OF NDLEA TO PRESIDENT MUHAMMADU BUHARI TO BE WARY OF THE GIMMICKRY OF AHMADU GIADE, ERSTWHILE CHIEF EXECUTIVE OF NDLEA"

"With the good intentions of the present administration for the country, it will be a tragedy for this government to get it wrong in it's drug control contemplations. It is on this strength that the concerned Senior Officers of the Agency have found it expedient to put President Muhammadu Buhari on notice of an ugly development brewing in the Federal Ministry of Justice. It is unfathomable and grossly inconceivable that the Attorney General and Minster of Justice will condescend so low to appoint Ahmadu Giade as his Special Assistant on Drug Control.

We the Concerned Senior Officers find it unthinkable and irreconcilable that the Honourable Attorney General who is being looked forward to rescuing NDLEA from decade of impunity, crass incompetence, victimization, mediocrity and wanton corruption that characterized Giade's tenure as the Chairman/Chief Executive, is appointing the same Giade as SA.

What signal is the Attorney General of the Federation trying to send? Is he rewarding Ahmadu Giade for all the injuries he inflicted on the Agency or is the Minister claiming not to be aware of the fact that there is a litany of allegations of corruption and abuse of office against Ahmadu Giade?

If the Minister is looking up to persons like Ahmadu Giade to serve as his Special Assistant, especially on Drug Control, then, his seriousness or good intentions are doubtful.

For the Minister's information, Ahmadu Giade knows nothing on drugs as to serve as Special Assistant. He wobbled and fumbled through out the ten years he headed the Agency. It is on record that his ten years were the worst years in the history of the Agency. Except the Minister wants to shield Giade from the long hands of the law over his alleged criminalities in the Agency. Perhaps, this minister's SA will hire his own SA.

Is the minister not bothered about Giade's intellectual deficiency and the age of his ideas? A colonial police primary school leaver coming to serve as a special assistant at the age of 83 years. We still wonder how the Attorney General must have rationalized to arrive at his decision. Something is wrong somewhere.

Is Giade's only qualification that he served as Chairman/Chief Executive of the Agency? What special training did he undertake during this period as to confer on him the skill of an SA? Is it the foreign conferences he attended only to earn his double Estacode, conferences where he hardly uttered any word? Has Giade's voice ever been heard on drug matters all through his period as Chief Executive of the Agency? Can he write or speak on drugs? Is it a deaf and dumb SA the minister wants?

To the best of our knowledge, Ahmadu Giade still wants to hang around and still be in the position to direct the affairs of the Agency, where he will be witch-hunting and short changing the Agency, and cause disaffection between government and NDLEA. Perhaps, Giade wants to balance in the Attorney General's office to blackmail the rightful officer to be appointed as the Agency Commander General and impose his own sycophants for the number one position. Who knows if Giade is an agent of a foreign country planted in Attorney General office to spy? This must be resisted, if it means legal processes. Let Giade answer for all his corrupt deeds.

This boils down to the integrity question. If Giade is a man of integrity, is 37 years that he served in the Police not enough? If he was such a dutiful and wonderful person, wouldn't 37 years in the Police not enough to have earned him the rank of an Inspector General of Police instead of the Deputy Commissioner of Police that he got on the eve of his retirement? If Giiade were a man of integrity how can he condescend from a chief executive, consolidated position to become the SA, a grade level 15 officer, an errand boy to the minister. Perhaps, a man can come down so low, so cheap out of desperation. Perhaps the minister has fallen victim to Giade's self acclaimed Spiritual Assistant, promising to offer spiritual protection for the minister, what with his mysticism an metaphysical prowess, an indulgence that he used to swindle the resources of the Agency.

Sir, we want to assure you that the Agency is loaded with a galaxy of competent officers and seasoned administrators that can assist this Government in cleansing the country of drug malfeasance that Giade's decade of maladministration has plunged this country into. Sir, it is a clear case of self indictment for Giade to have annihilated NDLEA's leadership succession plan without recourse to seniority only to ensure self perpetratGiade, who has benefited profusely from the PDP government should not be allowed to corrupt your good intentions.

But in all of this, one thing is certain. It is either Giade will mess the minister up or the minister will mess Giade up. In fact, Giade is already in a mess. It is already a messy affair. From the NDLEA corruption mess, his gluttony has been made manifest with the present employment."
