PRESS RELEASE
Our attention has been drawn to comments
especially in numerous social media platforms linking the nanny of the above
incident to the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM). This arose
because in one of her pictures, the nanny was spotted wearing a T Shirt
inscribed with the insignia and logo of the Church with Usher written on it.
2. While
the Church has published a disclaimer as contained in Page 21 of the Saturday Vanguard
of April 18, 2015 rightly stating that the notorious nanny is not, and has
never been her member, we still feel compelled to put the facts in clear
perspective.
3. The
nanny in question by her personnel confession did state that she is not a
member and never in fact worshipped in any branch of the MFM. She admitted to
have been a member of one of the Pentecostal Churches (name withheld) but has
converted to a new religion (name withheld) on account of marriage. It is
however imperative for us to stress the fact that crimes of this nature and
indeed crimes generally are neither denomination nor religion specific. So for anybody or group of persons to link
the suspect with any church or religion on account of this crime is not only
mischievious but uncharitable! We say this with every sense of responsibility
knowing what potent fault line religion and lately denominations have come to
be in the country.
4. We have
been inundated with calls from far and wide, from members and non members of
MFM on account of that picture. It is also important to further stress that the
shirt itself is not a restricted item hence members and non members of MFM can
have access to it and wear same without breaching any law. Most branded T
Shirts of churches and non churches are daily worn by non members of such
churches and organizations without anybody raising an eyebrow. We therefore
plead that this matter be settled on the strength of the above explanation.
5. As we
work tirelessly to round up the remnants of this criminal and devilish gang and
free the society of its menace, we seek the cooperation of all and sundry to
succeed. Like the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Police Command, CP CK
Aderanti has always maintained, nobody commits crime in Lagos and goes free. We
promise to keep on cracking crimes of any magnitude to ensure that Lagos
remains safe for businesses and leisure to thrive.
6. A safe
Lagos is in the best interest of all and sundry.
