MTN NIGERIA PARTNERS NDLEA ON DRUG CONTROL IN LAGOS

Telecommunications giant, MTN Nigeria has supported the operations of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Lagos State with the donation of a Security Patrol Vehicle. The gesture is aimed at improving the security condition in Lagos. The Director General of the Agency, Mrs Roli Bode-George received the delegation of MTN at the Ikoyi Headquarters of the Agency. Roli in her welcome remarks appreciated the support from MTN.
“It takes the collective effort of stakeholders to win the war against illicit drugs. This show of solidarity is highly appreciated and will serve as a motivation to the Agency. This is in line with the fact that security is a collective responsibility.

We are inspired that you recognize our role in promoting national peace and security” the DG stated.

The team of MTN Nigeria Foundation (MTNF) comprising Senior Manager, MTN Security Unit, Mr. Sunday Ngegu and Portfolio Manager, Economic Empowerment, Ms. Foyinsola Oyebola presented the Security Patrol Vehicle to the Agency as part of MTN Security Support Project.

Mr Sunday Ngegu who read the address of the Executive Secretary of MTN foundation, Nonny Ugboma, said that the Support Project is designed to respond to issues in communities where MTN operates thereby providing support to critical stakeholders.

“MTN is continuously operating in a very dynamic business environment with unceasing challenges and we believe that business can only thrive when the atmosphere is favourable. This donation further illustrates the Foundation’s commitment to a secure and favourable environment for lives, property and business activities” he stated.
NDLEA DG added that any support to the Agency is a wise and positive action in crime control because most criminal acts are induced by drug use.

She therefore called on other corporate bodies and individuals to partner with the Agency in eradicating narcotics from our communities.
MTN foundation has presented 175 security patrol vehicles to 29 States and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja between 2012 and 2015.
