NDLEA LAUNCHES MANHUNT FOR ARIARIA MARKET DRUG KINGPINS

A manhunt by officials of National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for suspected drug kingpins at the Ariaria market in Aba, Abia State has started yielding positive results. A thirty-two (32) year old man, Emmanuel Ogbonna alleged to be a major distributor of narcotics and a conspirator in the Ariaria market attacks on NDLEA officers has been apprehended. The Agency also declared another suspected drug kingpin identified as Luther King wanted promising a handsome reward for anyone with useful information on his arrest.

NDLEA Abia State commander, Mr. Dele Akingbade disclosed that one of the leading distributors have been caught red-handed. According to Akingbade, “the command traced and arrested one Emmanuel Ogbonna with sixteen (16) bags of cannabis sativa weighing 147kg. The drug was concealed inside the boot of his Toyota Camry car with Reg. No. ATN 219 TP meant for supply to his customers”.

Preliminary investigation by the NDLEA indicates that the drug dealers were in a hurry to resume illegal drug sales to make up for lost sales following the incident of Mob Attack on NDLEA officers at a notorious drug area called Black Kingdom. A team of surveillance officers from the Abia command based on a tip-off trailed the suspect to his hotel. After a long wait, the suspect was tracked down in his Toyota Camry car. Attempt by the suspect to raise false alarm by driving recklessly within the hotel premises was foiled. Sixteen (16) bags of cannabis sativa weighing 147kg were found in his car.

Chairman/Chief Executive of the Agency, Ahmadu Giade assured residents of Aba that the manhunt by the Agency for drug dealers at the Ariaria market will continue until all culprits are brought to justice. In his words, “A comprehensive investigation into the Ariaria market drug incident has commenced. Our manhunt for drug barons involved in the incident is already yielding good result. My promise is that all drug kingpins shall be arrested, prosecuted and the notorious area known as Black Kingdom dislodged. The NDLEA is deeply committed to the protection of lives and property”.
The NDLEA boss added that the Agency will go the extra mile in protecting lives and property in Abia State.
