STUDENT
UNREST: - Today being 28/5/2014 at about 0900hrs students
of YABA TECH embarked on protest in respect of the ongoing strike embarked upon
by their lecturers (ASUP). They carried placards with various inscriptions
like, “Bring back our education”, “Bridge the dichotomy between HND and BSC”,
students reject under funding of education etc. The students hijacked the BRT
buses and forced their drivers to take them towards 3rd Mainland Bridge
through Muritala Mohammed Way in an attempt to block the bridge.
When all entreaties
made to the student by the police to change their mind failed, tear smoke was
used to disperse them as they were becoming violent. Meanwhile normalcy has
returned in the school and situation is still being monitored by the police.
