Men on Police uniform kill businessman in Lagos

EMEKA IBEMERE
Early morning gun shooting rattled the Lagos residents on Thursday 11th April, 2013 at about 0700 hours.
Police authorities said that the Area Commander, Area“D” Mushin received a distress call that there was a shooting incident around Daleko Bridge, Mushin and he quickly dispatched crack team of policemen to the scene but on arrival, the gun men had disappeared.

Daily Signpost enquiry revealed that the gun men were on Police uniform and had operated in a commercial bus as people scampered for safety.

A casualty was recorded as one Mr. Santos Korie driving in a Toyota Highlander died on his way to the hospital.
It was not immediately ascertained whether the gunmen were hired killers on police uniform or real Police Officers.

Meanwhile, some arrests have been made and the suspects are currently being detained at the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) for interrogation.
Following the ugly incident, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Mr. Umar Manko, has ordered that the gun men must be fished out with a view to knowing their identities particularly as they were alleged to have operated on Police uniform.
“It would be recalled that in recent time, gunmen operating in military and police uniform have been involved in one violent crime or the other and the Lagos State Command is not leaving any stone unturned in dealing decisively with any fake uniformed officer”,  DSP Ngozi c. Braide, stated.

“The Commissioner of Police hereby appeals to members of the public and especially the victim family to remain calm and embrace peace as the perpetrators of this dastardly act must be brought to book”.
