Says He Is The Most Prepared To
Govern Imo State.
As
the governorship election in Imo State draws close, the Accord Party
Governorship candidate, Ken Ojiri says he is the most prepared among those
aspiring to be Imo State Governor in 2015.
Ojiri
who addressed a mammoth crowd of Accord party members in the 27 local
Government Areas of Imo Sate in Owerri, said he belongs to the category of 21st
century leaders who have been tutored on the rudiments of good governance and
leadership.
He
said he has deep understanding of the problems confronting the people of Imo
State, saying he has the drive and wherewithal to take Imo State to Eldorado,
adding that he has evolved measures geared towards improving the lot of the
people of Imo State when elected into office..
According to him, such measures include
x-raying the problems of Imo State, ascertaining the pace of development in
other States as a yardstick to address socio economic issues affecting the
State and ascertaining the economic direction of the State and knowing how to
apply them.
He said this has formed the crux of an
economic roadmap for the State, adding that the present administration is
running fallacious policies and programmes.
Ojiri
took a swipe at the much trumpeted free education programme of the present
administration saying education is already free in Imo and other states because
the federal government through the Universal Basic Education Programme has
guaranteed free education from primary to secondary schools.
He
said, “We must question this government where the budget for free education is
going to. We should query and ask
questions on the construction of classrooms without toilets for pupils. This is
unacceptable.
He
said his administration will place emphasis on youth development, stating that
as a youth he has the solution to myriad problems bedeviling the youths of Imo
State.
The
international financial tax expert hinted that even before he decided to aspire
to be Imo State Governor, he has investors from the United States of America
that are willing to invest in Imo State
to ensure accelerated growth of the economy of the state.
While
he called on party members to be prepared for the forthcoming governorship
elections, Ojiri said he is seeking for partnership with them in order to
realize their collective aspiration to change Imo State for good. He said the
voters are the kingmakers and therefore ought to be tutored on the need to
elect a responsible and responsive government in the forthcoming elections.
Earlier
in his speech, the Deputy Governorship candidate of Accord Party, Dr. Fabian
Ihekweme, took a swipe at the Okorocha administration describing it as the most
deceitful in the history of Imo State.
He said Okorocha has plunged Imo State into a
whopping debt of N215 billion naira in the last three years, adding that 75% of
the monthly allocation accrued to the State has been frittered away on
frivolities. He said the present government cannot give account of the huge
federal allocations that came to the coffers of the Imo State in the last three
years.
Ihekweme
added that most of the State government owned economically viable outfits such
as ADAPALM, Imo Transport Corporation, ITC have been converted to personal
enterprise of Governor Okorocha, stressing that Imo State will remain in
perpetual economic bondage if Okorocha returns as governor of the State in
2015.
He
said that Ken Ojiri led administration will restore Imo State to economic
sanity, adding that Ojiri as international financial expert will manage the
resources of the State prudently to ensure jobs and other economic benefits for
the people of the State.
He
said Accord Party is the only political party that is peaceful and willing to
place Imo State on the path of progress and development.
In
his remarks, Evangelist Myke Ikoku, the Accord Party House of Reps candidate
for Isu/Nwangele/Njaba/Nkwerre Federal constituency said he is confident Accord
Party will record resounding success in the coming elections in Imo State.
He
said the caliber of politicians in Accord party are men and women of
exceptional quality and integrity to ensure success for the party. He said Ken
Ojiri is on a true rescue mission for the people of Imo State, urging them to
support his governorship aspiration. He said the PDP in Imo State is from
suffering HIV and this made him to abandon the party for Accord where he has
found his political soul-mates.
In
his speech, the Director General, Ken Ojiri Campaign Organization, Elder Sunny
Nwadiaro said Accord party is the only peaceful political party in Imo State.
He maintained that Accord will emerge victorious in the coming elections
because they have a humble and humane candidate who has the capacity to restore
good governance in Imo State.
The
Imo State Chairman, Accord Party, described Ojiri as an embodiment of humility
Ojiri, Mechanics Brainstorm On Way
Forward For Imo State.
As
part of his ongoing consultations with stakeholders on the way forward for Imo
State, Accord Party Governorship candidate, Ken Ojiri last Friday met with mechanics at Nekede and
Orji in Imo State where ideas and plans on how to ensure a better Imo State
were discussed.
Ojiri
promised to address infrastructural problems affecting the mechanics at Orji
and Nekede Mechanic villages, stating that the level of underdevelopment in the
mechanic villages is hindering them from achieving desired results.
He
promised to invite foreign partners to cross pollinate ideas on how to enhance
their duties, stating that the number of mechanics can be a yardstick for them
to bargain for effective representation in government.
Ojiri
described them as key players in the Imo economy, adding that despite the
failure of successive government to address myriad problems affecting them,
they have not relented in accelerating the progress of Imo State. He said
through foreign partnership, abandoned cars can be recycled to produce new
ones, adding that if elected into office, their welfare will be of upmost
priority.
He
promised to provide modern equipments to aid their work, adding that he will
introduce a policy where mechanics that specialize in various areas are given
the needed boost and impetus. He advised then to form co-operatives as a
measure to boost their work.
In
his response, spokesman of the Mechanics, Mr. Chibueze Njoku said mechanics
need liberation, adding that they have to be carried along in affairs of
governance.
He
requested that their members should be appointed into government as a means of
making them active players in the affairs of governance of Imo State.
Mr.
Njoku said they have been at the receiving end of government injustice as some
of their members are being harassed by government officials.
In
his remarks, Chairman, NARTA, Nekede Mechanic village, Mr. Kyrian Nnadi
enumerated the problems facing mechanics in the area, pointing that the Accord
party governorship candidate is the first public office seeker to visit the
mechanics and identify with their problems. He expressed optimism that Ojiri
will emerge the next governor of Imo State because he is the only one who
possesses the integrity to govern Imo State.
At
Orji Mechanic village, Ojiri promised to address the problems of the mechanics,
recalling the role of mechanics in the economic survival of the State.
